Class of 2011 Graduation is tomorrow!?

I can’t believe that I will be saying goodbye (in Ithaca, at least) to some of my favorite people of all time TOMORROW!  This past year has been amazing, and even though I know that next year will probably be just as great, I still can’t begin to imagine Cornell without you! I know that I complain about having too many senior friends, but I’m so glad that I know you all.  You made freshman year an opportunity for me to explore Collegetown rather than sitting idly in my depressing North Campus dorm room.  You made sophomore year an amazing opportunity to host meaningful/silly parties and get togethers where I was finally really able to have so much genuine fun (read: 4am lip syncing performances while I was super sick). You made junior year into a whirlwind of late night eating (followed by food comas) and an excuse to have an Office-themed graduation party. I am so glad I stuck around for senior week so I could spend time with you all without the hassle of homework and to-do lists.

This past week has been a great start to the summer, and I’m so proud of you all for graduating! Congratulations on your departure from Ithaca and getting a degree (or multiple!)!!  I’m so excited to see you all go into the next steps of your lives.  You are my role models and mentors and I’ll miss you so much!!!

PUMPKIN GINGERBREAD TRIFLE (by cathydanh)

“It’s a trifle. It’s got all of these layers. First, there is a layer of lady fingers. Then, a layer of jam. Then, custard — which I made from scratch! Then raspberries, more lady fingers, then beef sauteed with peas and onions, more custard, and then bananas, and then I just put some whipped cream on top.”
On another note, the above looks like a combination of Christmas and Fall in one’s mouth! :)

Monica: I bought Chandler a $500 watch and he wrote me a rap song.

Ross: Seriously?

Chandler: Word.

Edit 4/24/10

Me: I wonder what Chandler’s rap song was like.

Maya: Yo yo yo, my name is Chanz, I like to rap and wear ray bans.

I chose my “accommodation” today for LSE!

It just makes going to London (baby!) much more real. The dorms are all really nice and they change the linens and towels for you and clean the room every few days! What service.

Started following a bunch of London/England/Europe tumblogs, which will hopefully inspire some places and things for me to do!

Also, Maya has offered me a travel guide book which I am very excited to read, chock-filled with maps! I said in response: “COOL. Then I can go into my map if I get confused.” She said: “What?” And then I proceeded to show her the exact moment that Joey goes into his map during the episode of Friends where they’re in London, baby!

Sanaa, Yemen
This photo captures a new mosque in Sanaa that was recently finished. It is built in traditional Yemeni way and is beautiful new addition to the capital. Yemen being the poorest country in the Arab world, has inaugurated this new mosque big enough for 40,000 worshippers in its capital, Sana’a in November 2008. The building is named after the country’s long-serving president, Ali Abdullah Saleh. It cost $60m to build. Sana, San’a, Sanaa, or Sana’a - capital of Yemen and one of the most facinating in the Arab world with it’s unique architecture, bustling souqs, friendly inhabitants and lack of tourists. Sana’a is one of the ancient Yemen cities dating date back to the Sabean dynasty. The oldest reference to its existence is found in inscriptions dates back to the late the 1st Century AD. The inscriptions also refer to the historical Palace of Ghamdan associated with Salheen Palace in Marib . This suggested that Sana’a was the capital of the Himyrate dynasty at the onset of the 6th century AD when king Yousef Athar Dhu Nawas the last of the Himyarite kings was in power . It was also the capital of the Abyssinian rules and after them the Persians who also made Sana’a their capital.
