I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen.

Finally watched Midnight in Paris yesterday on the bus home - SO GOOD! Can’t wait to watch it again with a non-sketchy, DC++ version… I’d love to go back to Paris again.

Seeing photos of Lake Louise on my dash reminded me that I should put up some photos from my travels last month to Canada! I really enjoyed Vancouver and Calgary (my mom did too — she wants me to move to Canada and get a job there)…and it was the first time I saw the Rockies! Lake Louise is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to, and there were literally views for the entire 10 hour drive from Vancouver to Alberta… O Canada.

I miss my dad today. I love how he can be so incredibly (and frustratingly) stingy sometimes, but 10 days in Europe…we bought this many souvenirs x 4 (this is only England and Germany).

The sun today is so glorious! It reminds me of Versailles, when I got cranky because the sun was too bright and I had a headache (and no sunglasses because they broke) and my dad poked me along the wide path in the middle of the gardens with no shade because we needed to hustle back to Paris if we wanted to go to Musee Rodin.  I loved the musical gardens a lot and for the first time since about age 15, when I still took art class and felt inspired to paint like Cezanne (it was a phase.  I painted apples we picked, but they had turned out like big red blobs and thus I stopped painting), I sat next to my dad and painted a picture.

Walking along the shaded path towards campus, I felt a little gloomy though.  For the first time in a long time, I missed my dad.  I guess we spent a lot of time together this summer (24 hours a day for 14 days, just the two of us!), much more than we do normally at home.  As a point of reference, the last time I missed my dad a lot was when I was 3 and he had left for China, and I thought every plane passing by was my dad’s plane.

My parents came up for CNY and it was so very sweet. :) They brought up all the ingredients to make nummy dumplings.

I reeeeeeallly wish my mom looked more attractive in this picture buuut she’s showing how delicious those dumplings are, I guess. My dad looks adorable though. <3
